Grass hopping

April 20, 2008 at 10:33 am (Uncategorized)

I’ve cracked it. You know how we all think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence? Well, I’ve been interacting with a lot of people sitting on the side I’m keen on crossing over to, and they all have, without fail, dissuaded me from doing so, at some point or the other – some through their cynicism, others through their outspoken vehemence. And suddenly, it came to me, in yet another of those crossing over conversations. The grass just isn’t green at all. It’s yellow. And prickly.

Yeah…very true. no place is perfect. no city is the best. some are too hot, some are too cold, some are damp and gray, some have bad infrastructure, some are so far that you miss family or home country, some have excessive crime, some are boring with no life. The only solution, i think, is to make peace with the place we currently are and to enjoy the best out of it. don’t know why i am mentioning this, but i came here after googling your name seen on pics uploaded on SJ’s facebook album :-)

If it’s yellow and prickly, It must be hay. If it’s hay then the sun is shining there because as any veritable hay-grower will tell you, you don’t make hay unless the sun shines. So since there is a sun shining there, it must be a good place to be.

MitVa: Have you read Kerouac? He talks about the yellow roman candle that keeps burning, and people who, like the yellow roman candle, should never ’settle’ for anything, but always have a needle up their’s … because that’s the only way anything good will happen; change will happen… . It’s a romantic idea, and although I get your point, I’m intrinsically suspicious of the activity of ‘making peace’. :)
(which is not to say I’m a violent person :) )

Nikhil, as always your logic astounds! The sun’s shining, men, but too much of it burns, no?
And hay, only when stacked, is comfortable to sit on. :)

You can’t expect hay to stack itself. Some work you have to do. Not everything will present itself gift-wrapped.
Hmmm… presents and gifts! I like them. I want them.
Damn August’s too far. Damn I have ADD.

Well the question then is whether it is yellower and pricklier on this side or that. Oh hang it all. Bring out the lawn mower.
